Teacher Ears
I walk around my class or I sit at my desk and I hear so many different things. The usually she did....... or I can't stand him/her. Sometimes I hear other things about other students and sometimes I don't know whethere to make a point to say something (talk to the student, call home, tell an administrator). With high school students telling one of their friends you never know how far the true has stretched. If I hear something that would put that student or another in danger I definitely do something about it but other things. Has anyone else ever come across this stype of subject?

Software for Discount for Education
I wasn't sure how many people knew about this site but I think that it is super useful. It is www.academicsuperstore.com They have big discounts on different software or technology products. I like it because they have a web developer for 59.00 It is called Microsoft Expression and it is really easy to use and easy to set up CSS. Here is just something that you or your school could use.

While I was doing research for my Wiki assignment I came upon this Wiki called the Teachers Lounge. It has some great tools on it. http://teacherslounge.editme.com/ It has all sorts of information about all types of curriculum. It also has general education type things. It has review games that you can play and all sorts of different stuff. There is also a chatobard. You guys should check it out. It is pretty cool.

Two year old Snow Day
My son is a little before two years old. We had a snow day today and we have one tomorrow also. The one thing that I noticed is that my son really misses the kids when he, is home with me all day. We play all day and we wrestle, we read books, do puzzles, and all sorts of things. It still seems like I am not as fun as all of the kids. Does anyone have that problem with their kids? I do think he has a little crush on the little blonde girl at day care. Maybe that's it.....

Wow, another snow day....
Does it seem that this year has been a bruttle winter or is it just me. I was driving home today, which is an hour away on a clear day today it took me two hours, and I was thinking goodness I can't remember such a bad storm or at least having to drive in it. It is only the beginning of February and we have used 4 Snow days. I remember when I was little having snow storms like them but not lately. I can tell you one thing. People in Michigan should have a drivers test on how to drive in the snow because some people just don't know how to slow down and take it easy.
Blogging with Students
I just wanted to express something I did in class with my students. I know since we had to create a lesson using technical communication I thought I would put it to use in my classroom. I created a blog for my students and I put posts on there and then they make comments. I use it for checking of understanding, exit cards, current events, problem solvings and all sorts of things. It is so much fun. I have students that are checking them at night and making comments. I really enjoy this with my students. This is something that is especially great for those students who are quiet and don't like to speak in public, this is a way for them to get their voice heard. I strongly encourage teachers to try to use it with your students.

Overnight Field Trip
I am going to vent for a little bit. I am taking seven students on an overnight field trip in March and it stresses me out. We are going for BPA which is a competitive club for business and computer students. Last year went pretty smooth but I am always looking for pointers. I am really concerned because my coordinator at my school wants me to take them and not take another chaperone. That would be fine but there are times I have to judge events and my students will be left unattended. I feel a little uncomfortable about that. My coordinator is really pushing for me to go by myself but it just makes me a little nervous. Has anyone else had a similar situation or have comments that might help my situation.

SlideShare
As I was looking up information on Wikis I found this great website. http://www.slideshare.net/ It is all different slide shows that people have created. You can download them and use them on your own. I was playing on it for a while and there is so much different things you can find on there. It is really cool. You can also upload your slideshow to show others. For example if you have your students create a senior exit slide show they can upload it and share it with family and friends. You can also have student upload different slideshow projects they create. This will show them the power of the web and how collaboration can really be cool.

Cascading Style Sheets
I have always wanted to learn about web creating but I have never had the chance. I have heard of HTML and that is what I have had a class on. I have never worked with Cascading Style Sheets and I have an assignment for my masters class. I am trying to create things using Kampozer and I am really confused. Is anyone have any tutorials or something to help me out? I feel like I am going to pull out my hair.

Friday Friday
Oh my I am so excited it is Friday. We only had a short week and I still feel like it was one of the longest. Yesterday I walked around telling my students have a good weekend and they thought I was crazy. Does anyone else feel this way this week or is it just me?

Being a teacher in January
I don't know about any else but it just seems like January and February seem to drag during the school year. I love being a teacher but those two months for me are just blah. I guess it is because their really isn't too much going on. I just notice that it is really hard to get high school students to be motivated and want to do anything. They just don't have the excitement. Then once March comes they seem to be a little more upbeat. Does anyone else see that or is it just me?

Children and Sleeping in their own Bed
My son starts off in their own bed but always ends up with our bed in the middle of the night. I wake up at 4:30 every morning so when he wakes up the easiest thing is just to put him in bed with us. I know it was a very bad habit to start but now we have the problem. Would anyone have any suggestions on that? He is only 20 months old, but he is in a toddler bed. Again any suggestions someone can give me would be great.

Mother of a Terrible Two
I am a mom of a adorable and sweet little boy. He is 20 months old and has hit his terrible two early. He is starting this throwing of anything when he gets upset, mad, or whatever. I have taken things away, time out and such but nothing seems to be even slowing it down. Does anyone have any different ideas or activities that would help me in getting him to stop throwing things? Just looking for ideas. Thanks

About Me
I am a Business and Technology Teacher in Michigan. I am looking to discuss different things within education. I love to hear new ideas with technology and education. Anything to keep my classroom interesting.
I also have a 20 month old son and any fun ideas or discussions about raising a little boy, I would love to discuss.
I am starting this blog due to a masters class I am taking but I am very excited to be doing this. I think communication is huge within success of a teacher and mom. If you can't bounce ideas off someone else then you confind within your own classroom or household and sometimes that doesn't always work.
